a chalet at zaarour, set among the mountains and built to converse with them rather than stand apart. light oak lines the walls and ceilings, wrapping the interior in the pale warmth of the forest it sits within. storage is concealed into the surfaces, panels and pulls felt rather than seen, so the rooms stay uncluttered and whole. the material holds a quiet tension, the coolness of concrete against the warmth of oak, lit low and even, and at the centre a chimney rises as the gathering point of the plan. the living spaces open wide to the slopes, the windows pressed toward disappearing, until the mountain itself becomes the view the architecture is built to frame.
